Coop at Symantec

January - August 2016

This was my second internship at Symantec (Blue Coat Systems at the time). I enjoyed the work during my previous summer and was asked to return.

During this 8 month internship I worked on new features and critical bugs. I also maintained and improved existing customer tools used for working with data exports.

I enhanced an internal tool that identified third-party packages with known vulnerabilities. Jira tickets were automatically created listing the vulnerable package and which version the vulnerability was fixed in.

Internship at Symantec

June - August 2015

This was my first internship after starting college. I was hired as a software engineering intern working on the SSL Visibility Appliance, a network device for inspecting encrypted traffic inside a network.

I worked on some small features and bug fixes but my main project was updating the platform code to run inside a virtual machine. This involved creating a system to provide mock data where real appliance data would be missing as well as disabling systems that could not be virtualized. Separate build targets were created for builds with virtual machine support. These VMs were primarily used as a sales demo tool.

Internship at OpenMobile WW

June - August 2013

This was my second summer internship at OpenMobile. I continued my work from the previous summer and took on new responsibilities. The company had expanded and had a QA department doing much of the work I did my previous summer.

I researched potential tools for automating the manual UI testing.

I created side-by-side demo videos between the companies product and the native product.

I took my first programming class during my Freshman year and knew thats what I wanted to do for a living. And look at me now!

I took AP Computer Science and got a 5 on the AP exam. The following year I created an independent study to continue my CS education following the defunct AP CS B curriculum.

I also took AP Calculus BC, AP US History, and AP Statistics.

Internship at OpenMobile WW

July - August 2014

This was my first software engineering internship. I joined OpenMobile in the summer after my Junior year of high school.

I was responsible for much of the QA testing at this time as OpenMobile was still in early startup stages.

I worked to prep devices for demos and created a tool for remote app installation on mobile development units.
